Kisumu ODM Party delegates endorse implementation of Governor Nyong’o’s manifesto.

THE Orange Democratic Movement {ODM} Party’s delegates in Kisumu County has fully endorsed the implementation of Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o’s manifesto.

The delegates who converged at Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu during this year’s ODM Kisumu County Delegates Conference have agreed to fully back the implementation of Nyong’o’s manifesto as the second Governor of Kisumu County.

In a 22 point resolution signed by Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o and Chairman Kisumu County ODM coordinating Committee chairman Prof. Ayiecho Olweny, the delegates resolved to be fully behind the implementation of the current Governor’s manifesto which is anchored in a ten-point agenda.

The delegates said the Kisumu Governor’s manifesto is fully in line with the Party’s manifesto hence supports its full implementation.

The ten-point agenda for Governor Nyong’o include revitalization of agriculture for food security and agribusinesses as well as ensuring a healthy population living in a clean environment.

Building of modern physical infrastructure, promoting skills development and innovations, conserving the environment while opening the Kisumu Lakefront for business opportunities are some of the key points in Governor Nyong’o’s ten-point agenda for Kisumu County residents.

Others include provision of decent housing in inclusive towns, semi-urban centers and villages, promotion of sports, culture and arts, promotion of industrialization and a vibrant service sector, supported by sustainable energy sources and Information and Communication.

Promotion of tourism driven by culture and heritage as well as new products and deepening the structure of devolved governance and strengthening revenue generation and accountability in use of public fund forms part of Kisumu Governor’s manifesto.

During the conference, the delegates also resolved to fully support the fight against corruption and life style audit and said the same must likewise take root in the County Government of Kisumu under Governor Anyang Nyong’o.

On County Governance, the delegates resolved that the County Government of Kisumu puts mechanisms in place to strengthen and institutionalize the devolved units as enshrined in the constitution and the County Government Act and improve revenue collection.

“We have also resolved that ODM party oversights and holds the county Government of Kisumu accountable in the implementation of the planned development and policy agenda,” they said.
