Sports talents should
be fully supported, says Buyu.
KISUMU County Women Representative Rosa Buyu has called on
the Ministry of Sports to fully engage in supporting the sports talents among
the youth at the grass root level.
Buyu says there are a number of the youth with greater
talents in sports which should be nurtured so as to help the youth to be
self-employed.
She says the Ministry of Sports and Culture under the
National Government has a good allocation which should be used to promote
sports at the grass root level and this should be utilized prudently for the
purpose it is intended for.
“Through sports, it can help to alleviate the problem of
poverty and unemployment among the young people,” Buyu said.
Addressing members of the Kisumu All Star which she hosted
today for a luncheon at Grand Royal Swiz Hotel after it has qualified to the National
super league, Buyu said such talents should be fully nurtured for they can help
the youth to survive in life and use this as a means of livelihood.
The Kisumu County Women Representative say there is need to
have young players in various sports to come up and ensure that they are in the
right place in the sports fraternity.
“There is need to have other smaller teams with young
players as this will help in supplementing the bigger teams in Kisumu County as
this will further help in nurturing talents in sports,” Buyu says.
Buyu says her office is very much dedicated in promoting
sports, adding that last year it promoted the sports in the entire county fully
supported by National Government Affirmative Action where about 284 teams
participated in this.
“My office has fully dedicated a young man who is in charge
of sports and culture for the young people because I strongly believe that the
youth should be encouraged and their talents nurtured,” Buyu adds.
