Youth accuse Gem MP of assaulting him in Kisumu over face book post.

A KISUMU Based Youth has accused Gem Constituency Member of Parliament Elisha Odhiambo of assaulting him within his place of work following a post he made on social media today indicating that  EACC had summoned him over alleged graft in National Government Constituency  Development Funds.

Maurice Ochieng Oduor popularly known as Don Pablo claims that he saw the Member of Parliament entering EACC Western Kenya regional offices in Kisumu and posting that he has been summoned by the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission in his face book account.

Addressing the press at Kisumu Central Police Station today where he went and recorded a statement with the police in regard to the incident Oduor said some of the MP’s allies begun to call him via his cellphone asking him why he had posted such like a thing on social media.

He claims most of those people who had called him threatened while asking why he did such like a thing.

He said he also made a similar post on the Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo who was also summoned by the EACC, adding that what he posted was commented by a number of his followers but no one called him in regard to such a post on social media.

Oduor said after a while, he tried to call Gem Member of Parliament to know whether he was indeed looking for him as claimed by those who called him earlier regarding what he had posted on social media about the Member of Parliament, adding that the MP did not pick his call at all.

He said after some few hours, the Gem Member of Parliament arrived at his place of work with a number of goons he allegedly hired to beat him.

Oduor claimed that the MP pounced on him with blows as some of the youth he came with held him while other also beat him up.

“There is even a video going viral on social media where the MP and his youth have been captured assaulting me,” he said.

Efforts to get Gem Member of Parliament Elisha Odhiambo were futile as he did not talk to the media after finishing recording statement with the Police.

He was reportedly whisked away from the police station after some youth shielded him while forcing him to enter his car then sped off to unknown destination.

Nyanza Jubilee Party Coordinator Zuberi Odhiambo Liete has condemned the incident and urged the police to probe the Member of Parliament.

He has termed the incident unfortunate and want the police to take action against the law maker.

“If it is true that the law maker was summoned to appear before the EACC, then why did he assault the person who posted it on social media?” Liete asked.
