KANU Party official tells City
Management not to fence off their plot
A KANU Party
official in Kisumu has told the City Management of Kisumu not to fence off
their plot where it demolished property several months ago.
Kisumu Branch
KANU Secretary Milton Obote Kwach says the plot next to Ambala Complex belongs
to Kanu Kisumu Branch hence should never be fenced off by the City Management
of Kisumu.
He says the
orders given to a construction Company known as Chaju Contractors via a letter
dated March 24, 2021 to fence off the plot at Kanu Grounds near Kisumu Main Bus
terminus is not in order at all.
“There is
a letter where the Acting City Manager directed the chaju contractors dated
24.3.2021 telling them to fence off KANU ground, I want him to realize that its
court contempt as he's aware who the owners are and what the order from the
court directed otherwise,” he says.
Meanwhile,
Obote who is also the chairman Diaspora
has dismissed the move by the Kisumu City Management that has claimed to have
renewed terms of Casual workers to three years contract saying it has no
mandate to renew such contracts but the Kisumu County Public Service Board
should do so.
He says
such a move is not in order without the involvement of the County’s public
service board.
“I want
to clarify what was yesterday communicated to Kisumu county casual workers by
acting city manager that he has signed contract of the 195 casuals for three
years that this is not in order and only the public service board can do this,”
he adds.
He further
says that it is the County’s public service board which employ or put employees
of the county Government of Kisumu on contract and this is applicable to
employee of any cadre within the County Government.
