October 31,2017. KCPE kicks off in Kisumu smoothly. THIS year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education has kicked off smoothly in a number of schools within Kisumu City and its environs. A spot check by this writer shows that in a number of schools within the Kisumu city and its environs, the Class eight national exams kicked off by 8:30am when the candidates sat for their first paper which was Mathematics. At MM Shah Primary school in Kisumu City, the exams kicked off exactly 8:30am without any hitch. The school’s Head Teacher Marcelus Okweya said a total of 189 candidates are sitting the exams which will take three days up to Thursday this week. KISUMU Governor Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o has nominated a ten-member cabinet and has dropped all those County Executive Committee Members who served in the previous regime. The Governor has nominated ten new County Executive Members who will first be approved by the County Assembly of Kisumu before they take those positions. Addressing the press at his office on Wednesday, Nyong’o said he will forward the names of the CECs nominees to the Assembly for approval.
