Suspected hooligans looted Tumaini Supermarket as Nasa’s Anti-IEBC demo enters round two.

SUSPECTED Criminals have today stormed and heavily looted Tumaini Supermarket in Kisumu as the National Super Alliance’s Anti-IEBC demonstrations enters round two in Kisumu.

The suspected criminals gained entry into the said supermarket which was locked when  they damaged the glass windows at round 1:00 o’clock.

They broke into the premise after they came from near Nyanza North Regional IEBC offices where the peaceful protestors were addressed by the Rarieda MP and one of the Nasa lawyers Otiende Amollo.

Goods worth of unknown amount were said to have been looted as well as cash of unknown amount when the suspected criminals looted the premises.

They pelted the premise with stones breaking most of its glass windows before making away with various goods including food items.

Earlier there was a peaceful demo being led by various political leaders from Kisumu County and police officers did not even interfere with the peaceful demonstrators who carried placards, twigs and were chanting that “Chiloba Must Go.”.

Police arrived at the supermarkets nearly half an hour later and threw tear gas canisters to the suspected criminals who have looted the supermarket while engaging them in running battles.

The Anti-Riot Police that was led by the Kisumu County Police Commander Titus Yoma ensured that the protestors were got rid of the city and chased to the outskirts of the City.

The police were also forced to use two water cannons for spraying water to the protestors who ran for their dear lives while heading to the Estates.

The protestors protestors tried to come back to the city center but their efforts were thwarted by the heavily armed anti-riot Police officers.

Meanwhile, a tear gas canister discharged itself inside a GSU water cannon forcing  the anti- Riot Police officers to alight  from the ill-fated vehicles.

The officers were forced to get out of the vehicles after the tear gas discharging itself chocking them.
They had to stop the vehicle which was having a lot of smoke from inside it.


The incident occured near Kibuye market at around 3:30 pm.
