Couple dies after being electrocuted in Maseno
area.
A somber mood engulfed Ebulako Elukhobe village in Maseno
area after a couple were this morning electrocuted and passed on.
Stephen Nyawira Otiato and his wife Roselyne Otiato were
electrocuted within their house and were rushed to a nearby hospital where they
were pronounced dead.
According to their daughter Evelyne Otiato says her mother
was hanging clothes she was washing in the morning when the incident occurred.
The was said to have touched the wire line for hanging clothes which came into contact with a loose electric wire supplying electricity to security lights outside the house.

She says he mother got shock from the electricity and screamed
for help that attracted those who were in the house including her father.
She says her father who was in the bedroom rushed to save
her mother but was also electrocuted in the process when trying to rescue his
wife.
She says she was with her brother who tried to administer first
aid to their parents but in vain.
She adds that they rushed her parents to Maseno Mission
Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
The bodies were taken to Coptic Hospital Mortuary awaiting
post mortem.
The deceased Stephen Nyawira Otiato served as a councilor of North
West Ksm Kisumu Ward in the defunct Kisumu County Council from 2007 to 2013 before the ushering of the devolved system of Governance.
