 Boy 16, in Kisumu requests shs 1M for his heart surgery at Mater Hospital  

A 16-year-old boy in Kisumu County has requested well-wishers to come to his rescue by helping to donate sh 1 million needed for a heart surgery at Mater Hospital in Nairobi.

The boy known as Oscar Ochieng Odhiambo who stays with his maternal grandmother within Kochogo North Sub-Location in Ahero ward needs the amount so as to undergo surgery at the said hospital but his family cannot afford it hence appealing to well-wishers to help raise the amount.

Speaking to the press at their Grandmother’s home in Kochogo North near Onjiko Primary school, the Boy’s uncle George Aringo Ochola says his nephew hails from Ugenya in Siaya County but is currently staying with them at home in Kisumu County due to his current condition.

Ocholla says the boy was diagnosed as having a heart disease that has resulted into having a hole within the heart as well as a vein that has raptured hence widening both the right and the left auricles, making him to have mixed blood comprising of both oxygenated and deoxygenated blood within the heart.

He says the patient had been treated both at Siaya County Referral hospital and Kisumu Specialists Hospital, adding that the medics have now recommended that he be taken for a heart surgery at Mater Hospital in Nairobi.

“The medics have advised us to take the patient to Mater Hospital in Nairobi where the surgery can be carried out successfully and the cost is shs 1 million. This is why we are requesting any well-wisher who can come to his aid to help us financially because we can’t afford the cost of the surgery at Mater Hospital,” Ocholla says.

He says they have tried to treat him within the Hospitals around every month at about shs 20,000 with shs 14,000 out of this goes to doctor’s consultation fees and shs 5,500 for the drugs he uses every month.

Millicent Adhiambo who is the mother says she can’t afford the amount needed for her child to undergo the surgery hence appeals to well-wishers to donate any amount.

Adhiambo says the little amount they have been having has been spent on his monthly treatment at a private hospital in Kisumu, adding that they should be helped to raise shs 1 million needed for the surgical process at Mater Hospital.

“I want to appeal to anyone whom God has touched due to the condition of my child to offer any kindly of help that can lead to heart surgery and they will be blessed,” She says.

The patient has pleaded for help at this time of need, saying he is really suffering and longing to get healed after the desired heart surgery.
