Uhuru, Raila receives heroic welcome in Kisumu, roots for full support of BBI

PRESIDENT Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga have today received heroic welcome in the Lake side City of Kisumu and root for the full support of the Building Bridges Initiative report  that they received yesterday in Kisii county.

Mamoth crowd lined up right from Kisumu State Lodge main gate along Jomo Kenyatta High way,Kisumu Kakamega road then to Mamboleo area where they braved hot sun to welcome the two leaders into the Lake side city of Kisumu.

At first, Kisumu Governor’s Prof Peter Anyang Nyong’o convoy snaked its way to Mamboleo Show ground where President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga went straight to commission the construction of the multi-million Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium being built within the infamous Mamboleo Agricultural Society of Kenya Show.

It was all joy for the Head of State to wave to the enthusiastic crowd that waved back to him as they sung songs in praise of the two leaders while chanting BBI slogan.

At Kondele Roundabout, the Head of State’s motorcade was almost blocked by a huge crowd who wanted him to address them but he did not while pointing to them that they needed to go to the Mamboleo show ground where he was going to launch for the construction of the new international stadium.

At the Mamboleo show ground main gate, a huge crowd overpowered the contingent of police officers and the National Youth Service officers who were manning it when they tried to bar the crowd from entering the ground.

A section of the crowd broke away the iron sheet fence thereby gaining entry into the ground which was now parked to the brim.

None was injured during the scuffle while trying to gain entry to the premise but police had hectic time in controlling the crowd who kept on surging towards the main Presidential dais.

  Both President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister who addressed the big crowd rooted for the full support of the Building Bridges Initiative which they received yesterday in Kisii.

Uhuru urged the members of the Public to ensure that they fully read and understand the report

He says the document will help in bringing all Kenyans together, adding that there are some people who were opposing it without seeing it in the first place.

President Uhuru says the document will also help give more allocation to the Counties, adding that it has also Ward Development Fund where Members of the County Assemblies will control at the ground.

Uhuru adds that it also provide that those youth with the loans from Higher Education Loans Board will only pay such a loan after four years upon getting employment.

“The BBI has also taken care of those youth who will be doing business for a period of seven years before being taxed in such a business. Is there a problem with that?, Uhuru says.

He says that the report will also ensure that the National resources are distributed fairly among Kenyans without discrimination on ground of ethnicity, colour, and religion among others.

“This is why I call all the leaders across the country to join us together so that we push this good agenda as big people so that we do justice for all Kenyans,” he says.

Uhuru has appealed to any leader and Kenyans in general that they looked at the document keenly and should there be any good thing that might have been left out them they should raise it up to be included in it before it is voted for.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga says the BBI vehicle is now on the right track, adding that Kenyans should read and understand its content fully because it contains what will surely unite Kenyans of all walks of life.

Raila says Handshake is there to stay, adding that Kenya must be taken back to the right track as envisaged by those who fought for independent of this country.

“The issue of BBI is not a joke at all and we don’t need those who are going to be traitors among us,” Raila says.

He urges all the County Assembly to ensure that they adopt the document because it is for the benefits of all Kenyans.

He rallied all the County Assemblies within the six Counties of Nyanza to be behind the document fully and support it when it will be tabled before the Assemblies.

Other leaders who have fully supported the BBI include Senators James Orengo, Fred Outa and a number of Members of Parliament from Nyanza region that include Junet Mohamed and Homa County Women Representative Gladys Wanga among other leaders.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been on a tour to Kisumu where he has launched three projects that include the construction of multi-million international stadium named Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium within Mamboleo show Ground, Uhuru Business Complex along Nyere Road and the refurbishment of the now renamed Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Grounds formerly Jomo Kenyatta Sports ground.
