I only went to pray and to give blessings to DP Ruto, says Father Pesa

A Kisumu Based Priest has said he only visited the Deputy President Dr William Ruto’s home in order to pray and give blessings to him on Monday this week.

Head of the Holy Ghost Coptic Church of Africa Reverend Father John Pesa 1 says his visit to Dr Ruto’s home at Sugoi early this week has nothing to do with politics but to pray and give blessings to the Kenya’s number two in Command.

Addressing the press in Kisumu today at his Church compound along Kisumu-Kakamega Road, Father Pesa said he is very much disturbed after the visit where many people have called  while asking him to give part of the money that he got from the Deputy President.

Father Pesa has maintained that he did not get any money during that visit.

He says he did go to Sugoi in Uasin Gishu County to look for money from DP Dr. William Ruto, claiming that he was invited by Eliud Owalo and an Engineer known as Mr. Olali to pay a visit to the DP’s home and pray for him.

“I did not get money neither did I ask for it because I went there to pray for the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya as well as blessing him,” he says.

On the issue of the Bible quote he gave in reference to the Biblical story of Goliath that has gone viral in the social media where he said it was King Solomon who killed Goliath with a stone using a sling, he stated that he did so due to old age that made him forget the right person since he read such a verse while still a young boy.

“I am now an old man and I started reading the Holy Bible when I was a young boy and I really know the story well as stated in the Bible where it was David who killed Goliath,” he adds.

Pesa blames a section of some people within the region of trying to blow what he said out of proportion.

Reverend Father Pesa at the same time now claims that his life is in danger as some people have started to threaten him via phone calls while demanding part of the money it claimed he was given during such a visit to the Deputy President’s home in Sugoi.

He says he has reported the matter both at Kondele and Kisumu Central Police stations, adding that he is not taking such threats lightly.

He claims that some people also visited his church compound while asking for the money he was given, adding that he never gotten money during such a visit.

The Priest who seems not to be shy away from controversies was in the public limelight in 2007 when the then Kisumu Town East Member of Parliament Gor Sungu claimed before the House that Father Pesa chains mentally ill people who are kept within his Church Compound, a claim he vehemently refuted.

Some years back, Father was arrested and presented to court where he was charged with being in possession of Government drugs within his Compound but won the case.
