County Government of Kisumu told to re-draw plan targeting relocation of schools

THE County Government of Kisumu told to re-draw the plan that targets to relocate schools and Health Facilities within the Kisumu Central business District to other areas.

Former President of the East African Law Society James Aggrey Mwamu says this will ensure that such schools and hospitals are not interfered with when the city center is redesigned.

He says there is no need to relocate such facilities especially the Kisumu Boys now the Kisumu School and Kisumu Girls as well as the current Kisumu County Hospital.

Mwamu who is also the President of the Ksm Boys High School Alumni Foundation maintained that they will not allow the County Government of Kisumu to relocate the two schools outside the Central Business District.

He says there is no need to also relocate the Kisumu County Hospital from the center of Kisumu City because this is the only health facility that the ordinary people can afford.

“This is a bad plan which must be re-drawn. How many people can afford going to private hospitals?” Mwamu says.

He says World Health Organization require that health services must be closer to the people.

“This is one of the affordable hospitals in Kisumu City and if it is relocated, how many people will afford to reach where it will be?” he further says.

Meanwhile, a total of 42 school have now benefited from the donation of Covid 19 kits from Mwalimu James Japheth Mwamu Foundation.

The Foundation's President James Aggrey Mwamu says they have managed to reach that number of Schools in parts of Ksm   County.

He says the Covid-19 pandemic is still within hence should never be taken lightly.

The Foundation visited Saint Francis Nyamonge Primary and Ayaro Primary schools in Ksm East Sub County where it donated Hand washing Tanks, Face Masks and Sanitizers.
