NCCK urges for justice and equity in the administration of Covid-19 vaccine

THERE should be justice and equity in the administration of Corona Virus Vaccine across the country, a churches lobby has said.

The National Council of Churches in Kenya Nyanza region says once the vaccine arrives  in the country, it administration should be characterized by ensuring there is fairness in carrying out the process of vaccinating Kenyans to protect them against the scourge.

Addressing the press in Kisumu today after their regional meeting, the Council members led by the National Council of Churches of Kenya Nyanza regional Chairman Right Reverent Prof David Kodia said there should also be justice and equity also across other parts of the world as far as the issue of administering the vaccine is concerned.

Kodia says the NCCK Regional Committee has taken time to pray for the people who are infected and affected by the ongoing pandemic.

“We have welcomed the news that a vaccine will be made available in Kenya and urge for justice and equity in the administration of the vaccine in Kenya and across the world,” Kodia says in a statement he read to the press.

The Council has further urged Kenya to continue obeying and observing the guidelines put in place by the ministry of health on Covid-19 disease.

The Regional Committee of the NCCK Nyanza region has urged the County Governments within the region to put in place measures to prevent deaths and flooding during the coming long rainy seasons.

Kodia hinted that the NCCK has resolved to set up a Disaster Response Kitty into which churches will be contributing.

On the issue of the BBI Bill, the NCCK Nyanza region has noted that this is a process where every Kenyan must take part in it urging all Kenyans to maintain peace and security before, during and after the national referendum.

“We must be tolerant of each other and allow every Kenyan to their wishers on the proposed amendments. No Kenyan should suffer or die on account of the referendum,” part of the statement says.

The lobby promise to continue to carry out civic education program which is being delivered through structures and churches.
