Police in Nyanza directed to fully enforce guidelines on Corona virus
POLICE in Nyanza region have been directed to fully enforce the guidelines to help in containment of Covid-19 disease.
Nyanza Regional Commissioner Magu Mutindika says the third wave of the disease is very lethal hence residents of the region need to strictly adhere to ministry of health guideline on Corona virus.
Addressing the press in Kisumu to give the update on the scourge, the Nyanza Regional Commissioner said it is high time the residents realize that the Corona Virus disease is real hence need not to be joked with.
He says the third wave of the scourge have seen more people dying as a result of the disease hence need to take serious precautions.
“There is need for the public to know that the disease is real and kills hence there is need to be more extra careful. As a government, we won’t keep silence as the public are breaking the law and fail to follow the guidelines on Corona virus disease,” the Regional Commissioner says.
He directed the police to make sure that everyone adhere to the laid down guidelines and enforce it fully without fear of favor.
Mutindika directed County Commissioners and their deputies, Chiefs and their Assistants, Sub County Administrations, Ward and Village administrators from Nyanza region to ensure that the public strictly follow the guidelines.
The Regional Commissioner also directed the police to do enough patrols the places of worship to ensure that the issue of social distance, having the right number of people attending the services, wearing of face masks and washing hands with clean water and soap or sanitizing are strictly followed.
“Police officers must now do enough patrols in places of worship to ensure that the guidelines are adhered to,” he adds.
Mutindika also warns bar owners within the region who are not adhering to the official closing of their businesses within the stipulated time of 9:00 pm to brace for hard times because their licenses will be repossessed without being given back to them.
“We have realized that a number of bars within the region still operate beyond 9:00pm and doors are closed with customers continuing to drink alcohol and this is not going to happen any,” he further adds.
Mutindika also told Public Service Vehicles to also adhere to the guidelines too, adding that a number of PSVs are still carrying excess passengers and this endangers the lives of those travelling because the issue of social distance is not observed hence can aid the spread of the disease.
The regional Commissioner told the residents to undertake the Corona Virus vaccine, adding it is a way of protecting the public from getting the disease.
He says the Government has no bad intention with the vaccine, adding that it is very much okay.
“Covid-19 is really killing hence Kenyans are urged to go and get vaccinated in the various health facilities and let someone not cheat them that the vaccine is a bad idea for the country,” he adds.
