Lawyer accepts Ksm East Residents' endorsement to vie for MP's seat

Kisumu East Constituency residents have endorsed a top lawyer to vie for Parliamentary seat in the next year's General Election.

The Residents of the Greater Kolwa and Kajulu areas in Kisumu East Constituency have fully endorsed Former East African Law Society President James Mwamu to vie for the seat currently held by Shakeel Shabir.

Addressing the Press at his home within Kolwa Central ward, Mwamu has agreed to accept the endorsement terming it a big gesture bestowed to him by the residents.

He has promised to walk with them the Political Journey till the end asking them to elect him as their Member of Parliament in the next year’s polls after endorsing him for  the seat.

Mwamu says the consultative forum for Kisumu East Residents is a clear road map to where the Constituency should be headed to in terms of Development after next year's polls.

Mwamu says his priority will be in ensuring there is proper infrastructure in the education facilities within the area to meet the required standards.

He also says there is need to upgrade roads that belongs to the national government within the said constituency

Mwamu has urged the Residents to register as voters in large numbers within the various wards.

Ex Senior Chief Willis Obura Ombuayo says Lawyer Mwamu has what it takes to lead the Constituency as its next MP after the current Member of Parliament.

He endorsed the Lawyer amid applause from the residents who gathered at his home for the event.

Charles Okello says the residents have decided that they will elect a new MP next year to replace the current MP who is serving his third term.

He says over 45 years, no resident of Kolwa has been elected as the MP for the constituency since the days of Oselu Nyalik who also served as an Assistant Minister in the Jomo Kenyatta’s Government in late 60s and 70s.

“This seat has gone to our brother and sisters in Kajulu and it has as well gone to the diaspora and now it is time to get it back to the Greater Kolwa area,” Okello says.

Other residents also echoed same sentiments during the occasion that was marked in pomp and color.
