Kisumu’s First lady targets USA tournament to raise funds for the needy

Kisumu’s First Lady Dorothy Nyong’o has left for the United States of America where she will host the Annual Prestige Invitational Charity Golf Tournament 2021 to help raise funds for the needy.

The Kisumu First Lady who is the founding and Managing Trustee at the African Cancer Foundation will meet philanthropists and donors on the sidelines of the tournament in New York City.

The annual event brings together golf enthusiasts and philanthropists from all walks of life to bond over golf while raising funds for charitable initiatives for cancer patients and vulnerable children in Kenya.

The Kisumu’s First lady is scheduled to participate in a series of fireside chat receptions attended by industry executives, local Chamber of Commerce representatives and philanthropists throughout the week.

She will also host the pre-tournament Award gala this Saturday, September 18 before the main Golf event the following day.

Proceeds from this year’s event, will benefit Kiwimbi International, a non-profit organization that seeks to promote literacy among the youth from vulnerable communities around the world.

Also set to benefit from the tournament is the Kavirondo Economic Forum - a New York registered non-profit organization that partners with other charitable organizations around the Kenya Lake Region to make a difference in those communities.

One of her pet projects - the Africa Cancer Foundation where she is a Managing Trustee, will be the tournament’s direct beneficiary.

She works closely on cancer activities with Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital through the EMPOWER clinic which was set up in November 2019 by the County Firstly Ladies Association (CFLA), in partnership with Women For Cancer (W4C), Roche, Africa Cancer Foundation (ACF) and International Cancer Institute (ICI) for screening of breast and cervical cancer.

The First Lady who is the mother of the Academy Award winning actress, Lupita Nyongó has been leading an international campaign against cancer.

She will grace the main golf tournament on Sunday September 19, 2021 at the beautiful Bunker Hill Golf Course in Princeton in New Jersey of the United States.
