Kisumu to host part of the World Tourism Day event

Part of this Year’s United Nations Word Tourism Day will be held in Kisumu on Monday next week.

The event will be held at Ndere Island in Seme Sub-county within Kisumu County.

However, the National Event will be held in Kwale County within the County

County Executive Committee Member in charge of Tourism, Culture, Heritage and Sports at the County Government of Kisumu Achie Alai says preparation for the event has been completed.

Addressing the press at Kisumu Museum to give details about the event, Alai said 200 guests will be ferried to the Island using a water bus from the refurbished Kisumu Port.

She says this year has a theme “Tourism inclusive Growth,”

CEC says the challenge the sector has had due to Covid-19 pandemic is real indeed, adding that restarting tourism around the world is the way to move forward.

She says the venue has been chosen so as to help talk more about tourism in Kisumu and Kenya as a whole.

Some of the partners in the event include Tourism Fund, Tourism Regulatory Authority, Switch TV, Safaricom, Ciala Resort, Safari link, Renegade Air, Kenya Forest Services.

Other include  Wildlife Clubs of Kenya, Kenya Ports Authority, KWS, National Museums of Kenya, Dunga Beach Management, Zaira Travel, Viba Explore travel, Maseno University, Tembea Kisumu, Vik Media, Ages Dance Group, Lake Victoria Tourism Association among others.
