KEBS to investigate a Manufacturing Company in Nairobi for sub-standard Goods

THE Kenya bureau of standards has reportedly kicked off investigations into claims that a mattress manufacturing company in Nairobi County has been manufacturing substandard mattresses and selling them to unsuspecting customers.

This follows complaints from a section of its customers across the country who raised serious concerns about the quality of high density mattress manufactured by a company known as Bob Mill based in Nairobi and sell those products to various areas across the country.

According to declaration of complaints documents, the Kenya Bureau of Standards has acknowledged the complaints by customers and has launched investigations into the matter.

The company is accused of producing mattresses labeled as Mzito high density yet they are not the high density mattress they expect from the Company.

A letter from Kebs stamped October 18, 2021 reads in part: “This complain has been acknowledged. Investigations will be done and feedback given to the complainant.”

A number of customers claim that the mattresses have brought a lot of problem to members of the public ranging from backbone problems and severe body pain being complained of.

A civil society crusader Audi Ogada said the company should be probed with a view to get the truth over the allegations labelled against them,

Ogada said that the issue is serious and should not be taken lightly.

The company did not answer Phone calls to that effect from the media who tried to seek clarification from them by the time of going to the press.
