Taskforce on CBC told
to consult widely and get views from Majority
The recently formed Taskforce to look into the issue of the
Competency Based Curriculum {CBC} has been told to consult widely and get views
from majority of stakeholders in the education Sector.
Former President of East African Law Society Lawyer James
Aggrey Mwamu says the taskforce should collect views from various stakeholders
so as to get what they really feel about the new system of education.
Addressing the students of St Camulus Ogwedhi Mixed
Secondary school in Nyando Sub-county within Kisumu County when the Mwalimu
James Japheth Mwamu Foundation awarded the best KCSE 2021 candidates, Mwamu has
maintained that there is no need to abolish the Competency Based Curriculum
since a lot of funds have been utilized in its implementation across the
country.
He says the Prof Raphael Munavu’s led Taskforce should only
check the grey areas with issues in the CBC which needs to be addressed and
ensure they are rectified.
Mwamu at the same time has appealed to various leaders
across Nyanza region to visit schools and encourage students on the importance
of Education.
He says leaders should offer any kind of assistance towards
the academic journey of the students.
Saint Camulus Principal Dickson Oneya Jimbo has thanked the
Mwalimu James Japheth Mwamu Foundation for awarding best students in KCSE 2021.
Mwamu’s sentiment on CBC comes immediately after the Deputy
President Rigathi Gachagua maintained the
Government position that it will not be abolished but reviewed.
The outgoing Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha
has said the interest of the Child should be taken care of in the new education
curriculum.
