Ksm ready to host 9th edition of Kicosca Games as Nyong’o takes charge as patron

KISUMU County is very much ready to host the Kenya Inter counties Sports and Cultural Association games this as Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o takes over as the patron of the association for the next one year.

In a colourful event held in Kisumu today at Mama Grace Onyango Social Hall, the immediate former patron of Kicosca who is Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has handed over the Patron’s chain to Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o who will now be at the helm for the next one year.

Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire says the games have made the various staff of the county government across the country to interact with one another through sports and cultural events being promoted under the association.

Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o says today’s ceremony in Kisumu officially signals the start of preparations for the 9^th Kicosca games which Kisumu County is proud to host.

“We are ready for the games and a committee working on the preparations has been constituted with strict deadlines to ensure this will be the best games ever in the history of Kicosca,” Nyong’o says.

Nyong’o says the games previously known as Kenya Inter-Municipal Sports and Cultural Association (KIMSCA) under the defunct local authorities aim at providing an avenue for county staff to interact and compete in the spirit of ‘Friendly Rivalry’.

“Besides playing in the fields, the games have had a great impact on the staff of the 47 counties as it builds cohesion, teamwork, talent development and benchmarking on best devolution practices and cultural diversities,” Nyong’o adds.

The Kisumu Governor says to make Kicosca’s Ninth Edition a success, they have identified the venues and facilities that will offer accommodation to participants.

Nyong’o says the games should never be restricted to only and permanent and pensionable employees of the County Governments but to also those who have been employed on contract basis from six month.
