The Kenya Kwanza Government has launched the fifth Public Free Wifi in the country as it targets to roll out 25,000 Hotspots across the country over the next five years.

ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owallo says the program is aimed at enhancing Digital economy.

Addressing the residents of Ahero Town today during the Launch of the Public Free wifi, Owallo said the Government has decided to enable ordinary Kenyans to access World Wide Web for business transactions and income generating.

Owallo says the aim of the launch of Public Free Wi-Fi is part of the Government’s plan to roll out 25,000 hotspots across the country over the next five years.

The Cabinet Secretary says the hotspots are going to connect the public to free internet at no cost once rolled out throughout the country.

He says so far the Government has launched the free public wifi in Nairobi, Nyeri, Bondo Siaya and Kisumu where the public are encouraged to use the free internet to do business online and earn a living.

“We have come here fully satisfied that the hotspots are reliable and stable,” Owallo says.

Owallo at the same time hinted that the Government is keen on transferring all its services, adding that access to E-Citizens services is a priority.
