New Team takes over Ksm Journalists Network’s Leadership
A NEW Team has officially taken over the leadership of Kisumu Journalists Network.
The team dubbed as Team Fresh led by Veteran Journalist Dickens Wasonga as the Network’s New Chairman has managed to bag all the positions from chairperson to Organizing Secretary.
In a hotly contested polls held at Kisumu’s Public Service Club this November 25, Dickens Wasonga resoundingly defeated the immediate former chairman Rushdie Oudia after garnering 47 votes. Oudia managed to get 20 votes.
Doreen Magak and Daniel Dembede were earlier elected unopposed as the Vice Chairperson and Deputy Secretary of the Kisumu Journalists Network respectively.
Harold Odhiambo has been elected as the Secretary of the Network after defeating Maurice Alal. He managed 46 votes as Alal got 19 votes.
The New Treasurer of the Network is Sheilla Mbone who garnered 41 votes against Wickliffe Odera who managed to get 21 votes. Odera is the immediate former Treasurer for the Network.
Organizing Secretary’s Position went to Victor Raballa who garnered 43 Votes and defeated Kepher Otieno who managed to scoop 19.
The elections were presided over by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection officials from Kisumu Central Sub-County while Media Council of Kenya through its Western Kenya Regional Coordinator Teddy Oundo witnessed the polls.
The Kisumu Journalists Network New Chairman Dickens Wasonga has promised to work with all the Journalists, adding that unity is key to success of the Network.
The immediate former Chairman Rushdie Oudia has thanked the Kisumu Media Team for carrying out a peaceful election that has ushered in new team of officials to steer the network’s for three years.
Kisumu Journalists Network was registered in the year 2012 as Kisumu Journalists Self Help Group with its pioneer Chairman Dickson Odhiambo serving for a period of six years from 2013 to 2018.
In September 2018, a new leadership was ushered in as Rushdie Oudia took over as the Second Chairperson of the Network where he has served until this November 25 when a new team has taken over leadership.
Dickens Wasonga now serves as the third chairperson of Kisumu Journalists Network.
