Ksm Governor appeals to residents to support new revenue collection system

Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang Nyong’o has appealed to residents of the county especially the Business Community to fully support the new revenue collection system in Kisumu County.

Nyong’o says the new revenue system enables the business people to pay their taxes from the comfort of their business premise.

Addressing residents of Kisumu County during the launch of Huduma Mashinani today, Nyong’o said the cashless system of Revenue Collection is one of the best hence should be embraced by the business community.

“I appeal to all residents of  Kisumu County, especially the Business community to support the changes in our revenue collection.  Kindly be patriotic by using our new cashless system which has very friendly features . For example, it enables you to pay your taxes from the comfort of your kiosk or stall,” Nyong’o says.

Governor Nyong’o says the Cashless revenue payment system will ensure accountability and  help to stamp out pilferage of taxes.

On the issue of Huduma Mashinani which is a citizen based accountability and Dialogue Forum, Governor Nyong’o says Huduma Mashinani’s main intention is to create a bridge connecting the County executive and the people by offering a platform of dialogue and participatory development, while promoting a feedback structure on service delivery, government programs and projects.

“The feedback from the people will help us, among other things- to develop new policies and review existing ones where necessary, especially in areas where project beneficiaries on their own assessments feel less impact of some projects and programs undertaken in  parts of the County,” Nyong’o says.

Nyongo has saluted the Civil Society Organizations in the County for supporting this initiative, adding that they have been with them since June 5 last year when they held their first Huduma Forum in Muhoroni.

Nyong’o has maintained that his government since his election in 2017  has made remarkable  development milestones and innovations to improve the lives of our people  the people of Kisumu.

“We have made great progress on health, infrastructure, Agriculture,  Trade and water provision and several other sectors,” Nyong’o adds.
