KPA Donates items worth sh 450,000 to Joy land school in Ksm

KPA Donates items worth sh 450,000 to Joy land school in Ksm

 

The Kenya Ports Authority has donated items worth shs 450,000 to Joy land Special school in Kisumu to help the children with special needs within the school.

 

The items donated ranges from mattresses, Bed sheets and food items.

 

Speaking during the hand over of the donations today at the Joy Land Special school in Kisumu, Michael Sangoro Manager in charge Litigation and disputes at theKenya Ports Authority who represented KPA Managing Director Captain William Ruto said the donation is part of the KPA Corporate Social Responsibility{CSR} activities.

 

He says it is part of appreciating their customers in the region while doing the Golf Tournament in Nyanza region.

 

Sangoro says they have also come to identify the special cases just like the Joy Land special school so that they can donate such items to them, adding that they do that on education and health.

 

He adds that this is an annual event that targets various regions, adding that every year they identify an entity in the region for such donation.

 

The Head  teacher of Joy Land Special School Susan Liayi has thanked the Kenya Ports Authority for the donation.

 

He says the learners within the school will get great help from the donation the Kenya Ports Authority has presented to the school.

 

“We are very grateful for the donation that the Kenya Ports Authority has provided to us. It is very great and beneficial to us. We really appreciate this gesture,” the Head Teacher says.

 

She says the school has about 250 learners and they handle those with physical and intellectual disabilities.

 

The school’s head teacher says the school faces a number of challenges ranging from old buildings that needs renovations.

 

She adds that the school also has a challenge in finances as well as renumerating the support staff.

 

Cosmas Onywera who works as a coordinator for special education in Kisumu County says there eight primary schools and 3 Secondary schools and they all have challenges because of the children with special needs they handle.

 

Onywera has thanked the Kenya Ports Authority for the donation it has presented to the Joy land Special school.
