30 women entrepreneurs graduates in Kisumu

 

A TOTAL of 30  women in Kisumu have graduated through a United States Funded Program known as Academy for Women Entrepreneurs.

 

The Program has equiped them with knowledge, networks and access they need to start and scale successful businesses.

 

Addressing the press during the ceremony held in Kisumu, Eliud Wasike, the lead trainer in the program said they had 13 modules that were tackled during the sessions that took 13 weeks in four counties namely Kisumu, Nairobi, Machakos and Malindi.

 

He says the program is all about dream builder, adding that this has helped those trained to build their dreams right from their business ideas.

 

Wasike says the entrepreneurs have been trained on how to come up with good business ideas, Business Planning, Marketing, Financial Management  and general operations of the business.

 

He says the training will help them to get necessary skills that they can be able to run and manage their businesses in a competent way.

 

“Many businesses are run without the necessary entrepreneural skills and this training is now of great help to those who have undergone it,” Wasike says.

 

He says each of the graduates have now been attached to experienced business mentor who help them to overcome the challenges the face in the businesses for the next three months.

 

Kisumu County Executive Committee Member in charge of Trade, Tourism, Cooperative and Marketing Faridah Salim says the program has boosted the morale of women entreprenuers in Kisumu to do their business.

 

She says as a department, they have a mandate of providing ease in doing business.

 

One of the beneficiaries Verah Adhiambo says the program has really impacted on her as a start up business person since it has helped her to come up with a serious business plan.
