Ombeyi ward residents in Ksm get relief food from Govt

A number of residents of Ombeyi ward in Kisumu County who have been affected by raging floods have benefitted from relief donation from the National Government.

The residents whom mostly were affected by the floods recently witnessed within the area due to heavy down pour got the donation of relief food from the National Government presided over by the ICT and Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owallo.

Owalo says the Government has provided 200 bags of rice and 360 bags of beans for the residents.

They have now asked the Government to look for a long lasting solution so as to address the issue of flood menace that yearly affect them as well as parts of Nyando constituency and Kisumu East area.

Addressing the residents during the today’s distribution of the food items at Masara Mixed Secondary school within Ombeyi ward, the Cabinet Secretary in charge of ICT and Digital Economy Eliud Owalo said the Government is very ready to get a lasting solution towards the problem of the floods that have been affecting residents of Kisumu County.

He says the Government is willing to construct dykes as well as di-silting rivers within the area so as to help water move faster.

He says the lasting solution is about the construction of Multi-Purpose Koru-Soin Dam that will be of great benefit to the residents of both Kisumu and Kericho counties.

The Cabinet Secretary in charge of ICT and Digital Economy is optimistic that the Kenya Kwanza Government under President William Ruto will surely complete the Multi-Purpose Koru-Soin Dam.

Owalo says on infrastructure, the Kenya Kwanza Government is ready to complete all the stalled road projects across the country before embarking on starting new ones.

He says one of the new road project that has been earmarked for Nyanza region is the ring road around the Lake Victoria region, adding that it will help to open up the region for various business opportunities.
