Policies on Finance passed by both Parliament and County Assemblies across the country are killing dignified livelihoods by the citizens.

The newly elected National Council of Churches in Kenya {NCCK} Chairperson for Nyanza region Bishop John Mark Haung Godia says the Finance Acts that the National Assembly and Counties Finance Appropriation Bills passed in the last five years have muzzled businesses by raising taxes.

Addressing the press after attending the Nyanza regional NCCK Conference held in Kisumu, the new NCCK Nyanza regional Chairperson said such policies hinders micro level industrialization.

He says the remedy to this is that the county governments creates conducive environment for businesses by consolidating and rationalizing all fees levies and licenses.

He says both the National and County governments should reduce taxes.

He adds that the proposed taxation in the finance Bill 2024 should be re-looked at.

On food security, there is need to do proper farming using the right seeds for the country to be food secure.

He has appealed to the county Governments to train farmers on good farming practices.

The NCCK Nyanza regional Chairperson has also told the National Government to intensify the fight on corruption across the country.
