Orengo tells Linda Ground to acknowledge his
legal groundwork on ODM Party funding
Siaya Governor Senior Counsel
James Orengo has told the Linda Ground Brigade in ODM to acknowledge his legal
groundwork on the issue of ODM political Party funding from the National
Government.
Orengo says it is indeed in the public domain that he personally initiated the
legal proceedings on behalf of ODM to determine the funds owed to the party by
the Government.
Orengo
says the Kenyan shillings 12.6 billion figure exists today only because of the
ruling in the case he filed.
He adds
that it is ironical to see the Linda Ground wing of ODM Party now demanding
these funds from the President without acknowledging the legal groundwork he laid.
The Siaya
Governor who is leading the Linda Mwananchi brigade claims that their
counterpart have instead choose to target him with personal attacks.
Orengo’s
sentiments comes barely a few days as the
Orange
Democratic Movement (ODM) party is demanding the release
of over KSh 12 billion (often cited as KSh 12.6 billion) from the National
Treasury, claiming these are accumulated, unpaid arrears from the Political
Parties Fund.
ODM
leadership, including Chairperson and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, asserts
the government owes the party this amount for operational expenses, grassroots
mobilization, and party activities.
