Uzima University remains Credible, Compliant
and forward-Looking institution, says VC.
The Uzima
University remains Credible, Compliant and a forward-looking institution that
offers quality training and research, says the Institution’s Vice Chancellor.
The Vice
Chancellor of Uzima University Reverend Prof Cosmas Rhagot K’Otienoh has
assured the Institution’s stakeholders that include Students, Parents, Partners
and Collaborators that their qualifications remains fully accredited and
recognized.
Addressing
the press in Kisumu today at Uzima University to clear the air on some
publication from a section of media outlets that appeared last Sunday on June
14 this Year that portrayed the institution as of the Universities that lacks
standards to train the students in the school of Medicine , the Vice Chancellor
said such publication are so misleading.
K’Otienoh
says such publication is based on the findings of over seven years ago in
2019/2020 and does not reflect reality of the Institution’s today’s standing as
per the various regulators namely Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council,
East African Community Partner States and Commission for University Education.
The Vice
Chancellor says at that time, the institution was known as Uzima University
College.
“Since
then, the University has undergone significant transformation that includes
being granted a full charter on May 8, 2025 by President Dr. William Ruto. This
was after a rigorous evaluation by the regulatory bodies. It is now a fully-fledged
private university,” says the Vice Chancellor.
He says
this now demonstrates the credible progress and Compliance of the institution.
The Vice
Chancellor says the failure to present the current position has caused serious
harm to the institution, adding that the publication has really dented the
image of the Institution both locally and internationally.
He further
says the University remains committed to Excellence, Integrity and Continuous
Improvement.
