Nyanza Regional Chapa Dimba games kicks off in Kisumu.

This year’s finals Chapa Dimba games for Nyanza region sponsored by the Safaricom has kicked off in Kisumu today.

A total of eight teams has battled it out today at Moi Stadium and the finals will be held tomorrow at the same venue.

During the games, Manyatta United Girls Football Club from Kisumu County thrashed Kisii United 6 goals against zero in a match that was played during a scorching sun.

In another girls’ category, Homa Bay’s NCEOD Queens managed to trounce Education center from Migori County after scoring 7 goals against nil.

In the boys’ category Nyamira Springs managed to draw with Victory strikers from Kisii when each scored 2 goals thereby leading them to penalty shootout that was won by Nyamira Springs after scoring 6 goals against 5 of Victory Strikers.

Manyatta Boys from Kisumu managed to get four goals after they thrashed Nyamaharanga from Kuria in Migori County which did not score any goal.

The two teams from each category will tomorrow square it out at Moi stadium for the finals which will begin at 8:00 am where Manyatta United Girls Football club will play against Homa Bay’s NCEOD while Manyatta Boys from Kisumu will play against Nyamira Springs.

After the finals tomorrow in Kisumu, the competition moves to Kitui County for the Eastern Region finals on March 9 and 10 this year.

The competition will thereafter move to Rift Valley, Coast, Central, North Eastern and Nairobi region as the race for La Liga heats up.

The competition aims at scouting for youth talent, developing grass root football, and ultimately propel the gifted players to the national team.

This is the second season of the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom games and this  year an all-star team will be selected to attend a training camp in Spain during which they will play against local youth sides.
