Chaos erupts at Kisumu County Assembly as
Budget chair dropped.
The County
Assembly of Kisumu has today witnessed chaos as a section of its Members protest
the removal of Budget and appropriation committee Chair.
Chaos rocked the
House when the New Chair for Budget and Appropriation Committee Judy Ogaga was
being sworn in to take over from Stephen Owiti who has been the chair.
It took the
intervention of Ksm County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo for the New Chair for
Budget and appropriation Committee Judy Ogaga who is also the Central Ksm Ward
MCA to be sworn-in during a chaotic scene at the Assembly.
After the
Swearing-in of the New Budget Chair,Speaker gave communication from the chair
where he said he received communication of the members of the Budget Committee
that they had made changes at the Committee where they had replaced the
immediate former Chair Steven Owiti with Judy Ogaga.
During the melee,
the immediate former Chair took the Mace and tried to run away with it but the
hawked-eyed Sergeant at arms restrained him forcing him to drop it near a chair
within the Assembly.
The immediate
former Budget Chair tried to interrupt communication's from the chair that was
being delivered by the Speaker but in vain.
However, Normalcy
returned a few minutes and the House begun to debate on the list of MCAs who
have been nominated to the House Business Committee.
The list had
drawn mixed reactions as a section of Members of the Majority Party which is
ODM Party protested the move by Liaison Chair Roy Samo presenting it to the
House for Debate.
Samo defended his
move to present the list saying he was doing so because the list had names that
included those from Majority and Minority parties represented in the house.
He added that it
was not only the Majority Party list of members representing it in the house
Business Committee.
