Kenyans urged to be patient as they wait for Court of Appeal’s decision on BBI
Kenyans have been urged to be very patient as they wait for
the decision of the Court of Appeal on the issue of the Building Bridges
Initiative appeal which is before it.
Former President of the East African Law Society James
Aggrey Mwamu says submissions from both the appellants and the respondents on
the matter have been fully done and concluded.
Addressing media after visiting Buoye Primary school where
he distributed Covid-19 kits that include Hand washing tank, Face masks and sanitizers
through Mwalimu James Japheth Mwamu Foundation, Mwamu said it is now time for
Kenyans to be patient as they wait for the verdict of the Court of Appeal on
the matter.
Mwamu says whatever the decision that the Court of Appeal
will make, Kenyans should be ready to the judgment.
“The Court of Appeal will make a decision either way by
overturning or upholding the High Court recent decision on BBI,” Mwamu says.
The Court of Appeal will deliver its Judgment on August 20
this year on the appeal that was made before it after the High Court declared
the Building Bridges Initiative as unconstitutional.
The Court of Appeal President Justice Daniel Musinga said the
Seven- judge bench hearing the case has made careful deliberations as the four
day to hear the appeal came to an end yesterday on Friday July 2, 2021.
As from Tuesday last week, the Court of Appeal has been
hearing submissions from both the Appellants and the respondents in the matter where
top legal minds both young and the old have been arguing it before the
Seven-Judge-bench led by the Court of Appeal President Justice Daniel Musinga.
Kenyans will wait for about 48 days for the Court of Appeal
to come up with its judgment next month on the twentieth day.
Meanwhile, Mwalimu James Japheth Mwamu Foundation has
awarded more KCPE 2020 best candidates in Primary schools within Kisumu County.
At Buoye Primary school, the Foundation awarded six
candidates who did well in the last year’s National Exams where some of its
candidates scored over 400 marks and have now been admitted to join secondary
schools in the National categories.
