Kisumu School former students embarks on modernizing pitches to revive games

FORMER students at a school in Kisumu County have embarked on modernizing pitches within the School to help in improving the sporting activities.

The former students through the Kisumu Boys Alumni Foundation say it has deemed it fit to refurbish the hockey, football, Basket and other pitches in the school to help in reviving the games.

Speaking at Kisumu School (Formerly Kisumu Boys High school) when the Foundation handed over a grader, Lawn mower, roller and other equipment for the exercise to help in upgrading the pitches, the Foundation's President James Aggrey Mwamu says this is a good gesture and will help in improving the standards of the pitches for the games.

Mwamu says the school had produced great football players like Amisi Shamba, Okello Zangii, Abas Magongo among others hence the need to revive the games and produce more prominent players.

“The school had also produced prominent player in hockey like Paminda Singh and Goyal among other. This is why we as the old students have embarked on the process of upgrading the pitches within the school in order to help in reviving the games on a serious note,” Mwamu says.

Mwamu says the Foundation have discovered that the standards for sporting activities has gone down hence the need for its full revival.

He says the refurbishment of the pitches will be completed soon and when the schools re-opens for term next week then students will find where to do their games in the new pitches.

“We want Kisumu boys to produce players who are going to participate in the games international and those who will participate in the All African games. We want to take Kisumu boys to where it was at the top in terms of sporting activities,” he adds.
