A MEMBER of the County Assembly of Kisumu has urged Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong’o to consider extending the current program on scholarship to secondary schools students up to university to help them complete their education successfully.

Railways ward Member of the County Assembly David Arao says those students who are currently being fully sponsored through scholarship by the County Government of Kisumu should receive the same funding up to the university to enable them study peacefully without being worried about school fees after their secondary school.

Addressing the a function in Kisumu where Governor Nyong’o launched the last tranche of bursary fund of the Financial year 2020/2021, says by doing so it will make the students to walk the journey of their education till the end.

The MCA who is also the Chairman of education Committee at the County Assembly of Kisumu says the County Government under Prof Anyang Nyong’o is currently sponsoring 10 students per ward on full scholarship during their four-year secondary school course and this is a good gesture indeed.

“These students have been vulnerable and this is why the County Government of Kisumu under your leadership is fully sponsoring them and this is a good gesture indeed which should be extended up to the university level to enable them complete their education for those who will proceed there,” he says.
