I want to reclaim the Kisumu Dream, says Ranguma
Former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma who has bounced back to the political limelight and has declared his interest to vie for the Governor’s position in the August 9 this year’s polls says his plan is to reclaim Kisumu’s dream.
Ranguma says his first assignment is to ensure that he completes the projects he initiated as the first Governor of Kisumu County from 2013 to 2017.
Addressing the press during a meeting with Journalists in Kisumu today, Ranguma said the reason why he wants to complete the project he initiated which he claim is being run down, wasted or abandoned by the current administration under Governor Peter Anyang Nyong’o.
He says if elected as the Governor of Kisumu, he will stop the hemorrhage of public funds and running away corruption which he further claims that is bringing down the county of Kisumu.
Ranguma who is vying for the Kisumu Gubernatorial seat of MDG Party ticket says he plans to also safeguard and restore public assets and properties that risks being transferred to individuals.
“Our mission is to also rebuild the economy of Kisumu County to create employment and put to an end to the endemic poverty that is threatening to destroy our social-economic fabrics,” Ranguma says.
He adds that he only took a break in the implementation of his dream for Kisumu County that was birthed in the year 2013 when he took the reign as the first Governor of Kisumu County.
“As the first Governor of Kisumu County, I established the foundation and growth trajectory and sector specific interventions that would help in strengthening as a commercial hub of the East Africa confederation that included Agriculture, Aquaculture, Tourism, Trade, Industry and necessary infrastructure needed to drive growth including Water, Roads, Universal health care and education,” Ranguma adds.
The Former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma seeks to unseat the current Governor Nyong’o who now seek re-election for his second term in office.
He is vying for the seat on MDG Party ticket and IEBC is set to clear him tomorrow.
Ranguma was trounced from Office after the 2017 General election when the current Governor was declared a winner and has served for five years.
Governor Nyong’o has since been cleared by the IEBC and now seeks re-election on ODM Party ticket in the August 9 polls.
