Ranguma appeals for peaceful campaigns as IEBC clears him to run as a governor

KISUMU Gubernatorial Candidate has appealed for peaceful political campaigns ahead of the next General election to be held on August 9 this year.

Former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma who seeks to be elected on MDG Party ticket says peaceful campaigns ahead of the polls is very vital indeed for every candidate that has been declared to run for a political seat.

Addressing the press in Kisumu today after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission{IEBC} cleared him to run for the seat, Ranguma said he will also ensure that he carries out peaceful campaigns without any form of violence till August 6 as stipulated in the law by the Electoral body.

Ranguma says he is firmly in the race to success his successor Prof Anyang Nyong’o who took the reigns as the second governor of Kisumu County after the 2017 General election, adding that he wants to reclaim the true dream of Kisumu County.

He says there are a number of development projects he initiated as the first Governor of Kisumu County after his election in 2013 to 2017 which he needs to complete as the Governor if elected during the August 9 polls.

Former Speaker of the County Assembly of Kisumu Onyango Oloo and the current Kisumu County Senator Fred Outa say they are optimistic that Ranguma will be elected as the Governor of Kisumu County so as to be able to fully complete the projects he initiated during his reign as the first Governor of Kisumu.

They have promised to cris-cross the entire Seven Sub-Counties of Kisumu Namely Seme, Kisumu West, Kisumu East, Kisumu Central, Muhoroni, Nyando and Nyakach to fully market Ranguma’s candidature as the next Governor of Kisumu County.

“Campaigns have officially begun and we have now hit the ground to popularize the candidature of Jack Ranguma as the next Governor of Kisumu County in the forthcoming polls in August, We therefore appeal to the residents of Kisumu County to overwhelmingly vote him as our Governor,” they say.

On the Presidential Election, Ranguma has appealed to the residents of Kisumu County to fully vote for the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance Coalition Flag bearer Raila Odinga and his deputy Martha Karua come August polls.

Ranguma will face the current Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang Nyong’o who was handed over a direct nomination certificate by the ODM Party and has since been cleared to run by the IEBC.

Police tried to block Ranguma’s campaign convoy from entering the Central Business District claiming that no politicians should hold a public rally within the CBD.
