President Uhuru urged to lower the high cost of living

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been urged to lower the cost of essential commodities to Kenyans to have affordable living standards.

Former President of the East African law Society James Aggrey Mwamu says the prices of essential items have skyrocketed hence making Kenyans not to afford them easily.

Addressing the Press in Kisumu, Mwamu said the Government must do something to reduce the costs of items that Kenyans commonly use on a daily basis.

Mwamu has cited items like Maize flour, Sugar, Cooking oils as some of the commodities whose prices have gone up making Kenyans not afford them.

Mwamu says the issue of inflation should now be addressed urgently by the Government.

Mwamu at the same time has urged Kenyans to take the issue of wearing face masks serious since the corona disease seems to be back.

He further urge the public to take other precautions like keeping social distance as well as hand washing to help prevent the spread of the disease.

The Former President of East African Law Society’s sentiment comes at a time when prices of most essential commodities have risen up where a two Kilogram of Maize flour retail at shs 200 while a Kilogram of sugar goes at shs 140 or 150.

Most Kenyans have complained of the high cost of living while blaming the inflation on the rise of fuel prices across the country and now want President Kenyatta to lower the cost of living by reducing prices of essential commodities so that they can afford them.
