Azimio La Umoja Leader Raila Odinga has urged the members of the Luo Community to remain united as their unity has remained to be their strength at all times.
Odinga says for a very long period of time, the Members of the Luo community has remained united hence has made them to be one of the most outstanding communities in the country.
Addressing a gathering today at Ofafa Memorial Hall in Kisumu during the coronation of the ninth Chairperson of the Luo Council of Elders Mzee Odungi Randa, Odinga has praised the Luo Community for remaining steadfast and resilience in their undertakings.
Odinga says no one should divide the Luo Community at all, adding that the community is one and speaking in one Voice.
Odinga has termed the installation of the ninth Chairperson of the Luo Council of Elders as a historical moment for the entire Luo Community.
He adds that the new Chairperson for the Luo Council of Elders Mzee Odungi Randa worked deligently and his loyalty is unquestionable.
He says Mzee Randa will work with all the members of the Luo Community as the new custodian of the Community’s Culture and customs.
“Mzee Odungi Randa deserves to be the chairperson of the Luo Council of elders because he has been a trusted person all through during their days of Mzee Jaramogi to date,” Odinga says.
Odinga has maintained that there can only be one chairperson for the Luo Council of Elders at a time, adding that the Community.
Odinga at the same time has hinted that plans have been put in place to refurbish the Ofafa Memorial Hall along Kisumu-Kakamega Highway, adding that it is better if the facility is given a new facelift.
He says facilities like cultural center and museum should be there when the Ofafa Memorial Hall is fully rennovated.
Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi says there should never been any form of confusion on who is the chairperson of the Luo Council of Elders, adding Mzee Randa fits the bill to be the custodian of the Luo Culture and customs.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga says the Luo Community is fully united under one Cultural leader Mzee Randa, adding that there is no any other Chairperson for the Luo Council of Elders.
Siaya Governor James Orengo says the new chairperson of the Luo Council of Elders will surely help in ensuring the community remain united.
All the four Governors from the Four Counties in Nyanza attended the colofurl event as well as several Members of Parliament led by Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi and Kisumu Central Member of Parliament Dr. Joshua Oron in whose constituency the event has been hosted.
