Two Teams from Muhoroni won Kisumu Senator’s Tournament Cup’s final

 

TWO Football Teams from Muhoroni Sub-County have emerged winners of Kisumu Senator’s Tournament Cup during its finals.

 

During the games played at Chemelil Complex, the two teams namely Kopere Starlet and Chemelil Youth Foot ball Clubs managed to win the Kisumu Senator Prof Tom Ojienda’s back to school tournament.

 

The Girls Team Kopere Starlet started off the finals with their Manyatta Queens counterparts from Kisumu Central where the Kopere Starlet emerged the winner after scoring two goals against Manyatta Queens who managed a goal.

 

In the Boys Team, Chemelil Youth Played against Bayern Academy from Nyalenda area where they managed one goal against Bayern that scored no goal.

 

It was pomp and dance after the two winners were announced and all the players were awarded stationery by the Kisumu County Senator Prof Tom Ojienda.

 

Some of the stationery awarded include Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary, Oxford Mathematical Set, Books for writing notes and pens among others. On the other hands, the girls from the two teams were awarded with sanitary pads.

 

Kisumu Senator Prof Tom Ojienda says the theme of the Tournament is to educate, environmental advocacy and activism against Sexually Gender Based Violence{SGBV}.

 

Before the kick off of the matches, the Kisumu Senator and his entourage managed to plant trees within the Chemelil Complex Grounds so as to help in protecting the environment.

 

Ojienda says the games are also to help in nurturing the talents among the young people while still in school.

 

“We want to have a culture of nurturing the talents among the young people who are still in school so that they grow while knowing well that sports are also means of livehood,” Prof Ojienda says.

 

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia Foot Ball Club will today play a friendly match with the Nyanza Combined team that emerged the winners during the just Concluded Eliud Owalo Super Tournament Cup sponsored by Eliud Owalo Foundation.

 

The game will be played at Nyilima Grounds within Rarieda Sub-County in Siaya County.

 

The Nyanza Combined team has been picked from the four teams comprising of Migori Combined, Kisumu Combined, Siaya Combined and Homa Bay Combined after the final game in Kisumu.

 

During the finals on Friday at the Mamboleo Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium, Homa Bay combined emerged the winner against Kisumu Combined team and they were awarded shs 400,000 while Kisumu Combined.

 

Siaya Combined and Migori Combined got shs 200,000 and shs 100,000 respectively as position three and four.
