County Govt of Ksm to begin rehabilitating 35 health facilities in wards at shs 150M
The County Government of Kisumu is set to begin refurbishing one health facility per ward in Kisumu County.
Kisumu Governor Prof Peter Anyang Nyong’o says a total of 35 health facilities will be rehabilitated at a cost of shs 150 Million.
Addressing the residents of Kisumu County during this Year’s State of County Address at Tom Mboya Labour College in Kisumu, the Kisumu Governor said the rehabilitation of the 35 health facilities within the various 35 wards is meant to bring health services closer to the residents of the wards.
Nyong’o says among the key projects undertaken in the year include the completion of five health facilities namely Ombaka Health Centre in Nyando Sub-county, Aluoch Adhier Health Centre in – Nyando Subcounty, Michura Health Centre in Nyakach Sub-county, Malela Dispensary in Seme Sub-county and Nyadado Dispensary - Seme Sub-county.
“We have also started the construction of Ratta Mother and Child Hospital in Seme Sub-County in collaboration with the Safaricom Foundation,” Nyong’o says.
The Governor says they are also working on the completion of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital{JOOTRH} Cancer Centre in partnership with a Russian company on a joint venture, and the Sickle Cell Management Centre in collaboration with Fortis hospital from New Delhi, India.
“Over the last two years, JOOTRH made great strides in various endeavours. The facility served 305,089 clients, these included 1791 major operations and 868 minor surgeries mainly for Neurosurgery, Cleft palate/lip repair and oncology surgeries just to mention but a few,” Nyong’o adds.
Nyong’o adds just recently, the JOOTRH acquired the Gasless Laparoscopic Infrastructure that ensures less pain during surgery, adding that this technology also ensures that the surgery is carried out without opening up the patient’s body.
At the same time, the Kisumu Governor has launched the third County’s Intergrated Development Plan{CIDP}.
Nyong’o says the plan serves as a social agreement between the residents of Kisumu and the County Government.
Nyong’o says the Document is centered on the commitments made during the two electoral cycles.
The Governor says the third CIDP{2023-2027} seeks to place Kisumu County on a higher broad-based, inclussive and sustainable growth.
