Ksm hosts final game on Owalo Super Cup tournament 2023

 

Kisumu City is today set to host Cabinet Secretary in charge of ICT and Digital Economy Eliud Owalo’s  Super Cup Tournament finals.

 

The event will be held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium along Kisumu-Miwani Road beginning today at 3:00 pm.

 

Before the kick off of the final game, Migori Combined team and Siaya Combined team will have a match played as from 12:00 noon so as to determine who will scoop the third and fourth positions.

 

The Final football Game will will be between Kisumu Combined Team and Homa Bay Combined team.

 

Earlier on Tuesday this week, Homa Bay Combined team managed to edge out Migori Combined team in a match that was hosted at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay where they won two goals against one thereby taking them to the final game.

 

Yesterday at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium, Kisumu Combined Team managed to score three goals against Siaya Combined Team that score no goal in a tight match that lasted over 90 minutes.

 

Cabinet Secretary in charge of ICT and Digital Economy Eliud Owalo who has sponsored the tournament through the Eliud Owalo Foundation says the winner of this Tournament at County Level will get a cash award of shs 400,000 while the runners up will get shs 300,000.

 

He says the team in the third position will receive shs 200,000 as cash award while the fourth position will bag shs 100,000.

 

Owalo says a technical  team coordinating the tournament, adding  that the team comprising of former soccer legend that include Peter Dawo, James Goro Oronge, Tobias Ocholla and Gerald Omollo Chonjo among others.

 

Owalo says the winner will have a friendly match with the Gor Mahia Football Club this Saturday at  Nyilima Grounds in Asembo within Rarieda Sub-County.

 

The Eliud Owalo Super Cup Tournament is aimed at revitalizing football standards among the youth in the former Nyanza Province counties of Migori, Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay.

 

It has four objectives that include provision of a monetizing platform for young talented footballers from the region to showcase and earn income from their skills,  providing unique opportunity for skilled players to be scouted by prospective teams.

 

Other objectives include fostering development as well as promotion of cohesion.
