Raila urged not to discriminate small parties and Independent candidates.

THE National Super Alliance {NASA} Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has been urged not to exercise any form of discrimination to the smaller political parties within the coalition and the independent candidates aspiring for various positions.

The Citizens Convention Party{CCP} Party leader Grace Akumu has urged the Nasa Flag bearer not to show any form of discrimination against the small parties within Nasa and the Independent candidates seeking various elective posts in the upcoming polls in August this year.

Speaking at the Party’s Headquarters in Kisumu on Monday, the CCP leader said the Nasa Presidential Candidate needs the support of all the small and big political parties including the Independent candidates across the country.

Akumu says her party fully supports Raila’s Presidential bid hence this is why it has not fielded any presidential candidate.

The CCP Boss says Raila needs all the support from various political parties within Nasa and independent candidates across the country in order to win the Presidency come August this year when the General Election will be held.

She says she supports the independent candidates who are seeking various elective posts because they need one another.

Akumu took issues with the recent utterance by the Amani National Congress Leader Musalia Mudavadi who is also one of the Nasa Co-Principals who said that the Coalition is not ready to support independent candidates, adding that such utterances are in bad taste especially.

She says Mudavadi should not appear as if he is misleading the Nasa Presidential candidate especially on the issue of independent candidates.

“Raila as the Nasa flag bearer needs both small and big political parties as well as the support of independent candidates across the country in order to win the presidency hence he should desist from discriminating any political party within Nasa or the independent candidates,” Akumu says.

Same sentiments have also been echoed by the CCP nominee for Kaloleni/Shauri Moyo ward Farida Salim who has said they are fully behind Raila’s candidacy as the NASA flag bearer.

The Nasa Presidential Candidate while speaking at a funeral in Rarieda constituency last weekend urged the electorates to vote ODM Candidates in six piece, a call which has reportedly infuriated a number of votes across Nyanza region who have since issued mixed reactions while saying this will not be possible.

Odinga also repeated the same sentiment yesterday after attending ACK Saint Stephen’s Cathedral in Kisumu.

This has been seen as a thorn in the flesh for most of the independent candidates in Nyanza region who have sought such an alternative after a shambolic ODM nomination process witnessed recently.Their Supporters have vehemently protested against such utterance terming it discriminatory.
