“Six Piece” narrative may not be possible, CCP Leader says.

THE Issue of the six piece voting pattern may not be possible during this forthcoming General Elections slated for August this year, a party leader has said.

The Citizens Convention Party Leader Grace Akumu has said the issue of six piece may not be applicable this time round citing the just recently concluded political parties’ nominations which has been described as shambolic.

Speaking at Tom Mboya Labour College after IEBC cleared her to run as Women Representative in Kisumu County on Tuesday, Akumu said even in the last general election of 2013, the six piece narrative was not applicable since some candidates from different parties were also elected for various seats.

Akumu says she has been a victim of the six piece and lost in two previous elections of 2007 and 2013 due to the six piece narrative.

She says some big political parties have disappointed Kenyans especially on issues of their nomination ahead of the General Elections.

She points out that in the 2013 General Elections several Candidates were elected who went against the issue of six piece.

”As a victim of the six piece and other colleagues decided to form this party of CCP so as to move on with and the electorates should be able to elect people of their choice whom the bigger parties have snatched from them,” Akumu says.

Akumu says the electorates should be allowed to elect people of their choice without being led to vote in a particular way.

During the 2013 General Election, Nyanza region managed to have an election where candidates were elected on various political parties other than the dominant party within the region.

Migori County managed to have its first Governor Zacharia Okoth Obado being elected on a People Democratic Party{PDP} ticket after he was allegedly rigged out in the ODM party nomination process ahead of that year’s polls with the ticket being given to Prof.Edward Oyugi Akong’o who later lost to Governor Obado in the 2013 Polls.

Governor Obado has since decamped to ODM party and has been issued with its nomination certificate seeking to be re-elected during the August 8 polls.

Several MPs were also elected on different parties tickets who include the current Kisumu West MP John Olago Aluoch of  Ford Kenya ticket, Muhoroni MP James Onyango K’Oyoo on a PDP ticket, Jared K’Opiyo of Awendo on Ford Kenya party and Muluan Omondi the Alego Usonga MP on Wiper Party.
A host of MCAs particularly in Mohoroni Constituency were also elected on different political parties tickets.

Kisumu West MP John Olago Aluoch is defending the seat on Ford Kenya ticket in this year’s polls.
