Ranguma urges for peaceful campaigns as he seeks clearance as independent candidate.

Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma has called for maintenance of peace during this electioneering period.

Ranguma says the maintenance of peace is very vital for development within the county.

Speaking to the press during the launch of a new state of the art water drilling machine purchased at shs 59million, Ranguma said already there has been peaceful co-existence within the county and various investments are eminent.

Ranguma says he is now seeking re-election as an independent candidate where he will defend the seat for his second and final term in office.

He pleads with the electorates to re-elect him so as to be able to continue steering development projects he has initiated during his first term in office.

“I want to plead with you so as to re-elect me as your governor for my final term in office so as to be able to carry on with the development projects we have initiated since 2013 when we came into the office,” he says.

Ranguma’s sentiments comes barely a few days after the official kick off of the political campaigns last Sunday only two months to the General Election slated for August 8 this year.

In Kisumu County, IEBC is yet to clear the various gubernatorial contestants who will present their nomination papers as from tomorrow June 1 to 2 this year.

Among those who are expected to present their nomination papers include Governor  Jack Ranguma who will defend the seat as an Independent candidate, Prof Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o of Orange Democratic Movement{ODM} Party, Atieno Otieno of the Jubilee Party and Peter Charles Omollo of the Amani National Congress{ANC}.

Governor Ranguma is expected to present its nomination papers to Kisumu County IEBC Returning Officer John Cox Lorionokou at Tom Mboya Labour College tomorrow while Prof Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o of ODM party is expected to present his on Friday June 2.

Both Atieno Otieno of Jubilee Party and Peter Charles Omollo of the Amani National Congress{ANC} will also present theirs before the close of the exercise on June 2 this year.

Already Kisumu County IEBC Returning Officer has cleared Fred Outa of ODM Party and James Ochola Ogoda to run for the Senate seat as an Independent Candidate.

Also the IEBC has cleared Grace Akumu to run for the position of Women Representative on the Citizens Convention Party{CCP} as well as Rosa Akinyi Buyu of ODM to run for the position of the women representative in Kisumu County.
