Moffat Kangi yesterday met the outgoing Nyanza Regional Commissioner Wilson Njega at the regional Head quarters in Kisumu where he officially took over as the new Regional Commissioner after Njega handed over to him.

Wilson Njega who has served as the Nyanza Regional Commissioner for nearly two years after taking over from Francis Mutie now moves to Central Region in the same capacity.

Njega while handing over to Kangi said the region will now be under his successor as the new Regional Commissioner.

Njega says he has been having a very cordial working relationship with the regional security and intelligence team and all the National Government departments which he says will also work and support the new Regional Commissioner.

He says he has now handed over the administrative duties to his successor who will now be fully in charge of the region.

“I have been having a competent regional security and Intelligence team which I have now handed over to the new Regional Commissioner and I hope they will cooperate and work with their new boss,” he says.
Njega says he has managed to handle various security challenges which have been there and urged his successor to carry on with managing such security challenges within the region.

Njega also praised the various County Commissioners from the six counties of Nyanza region who have worked under him for doing an efficient work in their areas of jurisdictions.

“I leave a stable region even though we have been having a few issues here and there after the just concluded General Election and I hope my successor will be able to take up the challenges which still remain,” Njega adds.

On his part, the new Nyanza Regional Commissioner Moffat Kangi says he is happy to join a very able and efficient and intelligence security team in Nyanza region.

He has asked the entire relevant national Government department within the region to cooperate and embrace team work so as to help move the region a notch high in terms of providing services to all Kenyans within the region.

During the handing over ceremony, the new Nyanza Regional Commissioner managed to also meet all the County Commissioners from the six counties within the region namely Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira and all the Deputy County Commissioners across all the Sub-Counties within the region.

Moffat Kangi becomes the third Regional Commissioner to serve in Nyanza region following the restructure of the system which was commonly referred to as the provincial Administration in line with the new Constitution which was promulgated on August 27, 2010.

Others who have served as the Regional Commissioner in Nyanza include Francis Mutie who was posted to the region in July 2009 as the then Provincial Commissioner.

He later served as the Regional Commissioner for Nyanza and was transferred two years ago where Wilson Njega took over from him as the new Nyanza Regional Commissioner.
