Nyong’o roots for National Cohesion and integration.

Kisumu County Governor Prof.Anyang' Nyong'o has called on Kenyans to embrace cohesion as a tool for national development and celebration of the countries diverse culture.

The governor who was speaking during the 3rd KNACTOM for Unesco Cultural celebrations that are ongoing in Kisumu County, said it is very vital for the country to be cohesive.

"We must be proud of our rich cultural diversity as Kenyans,culture defines  our identity as a people. It is also our duty to preserve our culture for the future generations.”Nyong’o says.

The cultural celebrations enters its third day today at the Jomo Kenyatta grounds in Kisumu County after it kicked off on Tuesday this week.

There has been a series of cultural performances showcase by cultural groups from Garrisa, Marsabit, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisii, Kisumu counties during the previous day’s program.

There will also be a public talk show by renowned scholars in the region.

Thousands of Kisumu residents are expected to throng to the grounds to enjoy different   cultural performances and the different counties exhibition booths.

There has been a fish Fiesta and exhibition of the legendary Omieri, the snake that died 30 years and has historic connections with the Nyakach Community where it was discovered.
