Nyando MP distributes Bursary cheques worth shs 15M to students in Secondary schools.

STUDENTS from various Secondary schools within Nyando constituency and outside the region have benefitted from education bursary that has been distributed by the Area Member of Parliament Jared Okello through the National Government Constituency Development fund.

Nyand Member of Parliament Jared Okello who participated in the distribution of the cheques said most of the needy students who applied for the bursary to assist them in paying their secondary school fees.

Addressing the residents of Nyando constituency at the area NGCDF offices near Ahero Bible Training Center, Nyando Member of Parliament said he is giving priority to education hence the reason as to why he has issued the education bursary to needy students within the constituency.

Okello said most school within the constituency have benefitted from the kitty with needy students from a public secondary school getting about 500,000 shillings.

He said his priority as the area MP is to ensure that all needy students benefit from the kitty and none misses the school due to lack of school fees.

“I want to ensure that all needy students within our constituency of Nyando are in school through bursary given under the National Government Constituency Development Fund. This is because education is the key to success,” Okello said.

He said those youth who want to train as motorcycles riders will also benefit and will join driving schools paid by the by Bursary.

Okello at the same time said, those students in University and other tertiary institutions will also benefit from Bursary worth also shs 15 million.

The lawmaker also said under the National Government CDF, they have put aside shs 60 million for the construction of classrooms and laboratories in schools with dilapidated structures within the constituency.

He says under the project, a number of classrooms have been constructed in various schools within the constituency with the latest being the construction of two modern classrooms at Bunde Secondary school and putting up a laboratory at Nyalenda girls which have been commissioned today.

“We have built classrooms in a number of schools using NGCDF and this has been meant to uplift the schools in terms of structure,” he added.
