Kuppet want free secondary funds for next term released immediately.

THE Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers now want the National Government to immediately release the free secondary education funds meant for third term by next week when school's re-opens.

Kuppet Kisumu County Branch Secretary Zablon Awange says the Government should consider giving the free secondary education for the third term which begins next week immediately.

Addressing the press at his office in Kisumu today, Awange said if the funds are disburse immediately as early as next week it will help in the smooth running of schools across the country.

Awange says next term is very short hence the Government needs to disburse the funds as early possible unlike second term when the funds were disbursed late where most of the school’s programs were halted.

Awange argues that the next term will be a busy one when the form four will start their national exams in October hence there is need to purchase chemicals and equipment for science practical.

“Schools needs to purchase chemicals and equipment that will be used during science practical that will be conducted during this year Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education. This is why the Government needs to disburse term three trunch as early as possible,” Awange says.

He says the schools should not be closed for the next term for December holiday before the funding is disbursed.

“We want the studies and revision conducted peacefully without any interference such as delayed in funding of free secondary education from the National Government,”Awange adds.

He urges schools not to re-open for third term until Government release the remaining tranch.

Awange at the same time urged the Teachers Service Commission to consider pay all the teachers across the country the third phase of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, adding it should not be given selectively as has been the case recently.

He says Teachers Services Commission should not drag teachers in its war with the Knut Secretary General Wilson Sossion.

He urges all teachers especially in secondary schools to join Kuppet willingly as it is the Union that will greatly take care of their interests as secondary school teachers.
