We will not transact any business with you, Kisumu MCAs tells CEC Finance.

The Members of the county Assembly of Kisumu have vowed not to transact any business with the current                County Executive Committee Member in charge of Finance Nerry Achar.

The MCAs say they will go on with the issue of impeaching the Kisumu County Finance Minister since they had started the process of doing so last week and can’t stop anymore.

Addressing the press today at the precinct of the County Assembly of Kisumu, the MCAs were led by chairman of the select committee that was formed to investigate the allegations about the CEC Finance that was brought before the Assembly during the day the notice of motion to impeach him was issued.

Reading the committee’s Solutions after the today’s Speaker’s Kamkunji chaired by Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo, chairman of the committee Steve Owiti said it has come up with four recommendations to the County Assembly on the allegations levelled against the finance CEC.

He said one of the resolutions is that the Committee has found the CEC Finance culpable of the allegation that he is incompetent hence cannot hold a public office within the county government of Kisumu.

“The CEC in charge of Finance in Kisumu County was given a chance for two days to appear before the Committee of the County Assembly but he failed to do so. This means he disregarded the process,” the Chair says.

The Select Committee Chair has also recommended to the Assembly that the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and EACC to take up matters on the issues bordering criminality as alleged against the Finance CEC.

“We have issues of pending bills which cannot be substantiated by the Executive wing of the county Government hence this needs to be investigated as we have recommended,” he said.

The chair said the third resolution is that the County Assembly as a wing of the county Government of Kisumu will not transact any business with the Current CEC finance should he continue to be in office.

“We have recommended that the County Assembly as the legislative wing of the county Government ceases to transact any business with the current CEC finance and we don’t recognize him as the county Assembly of Kisumu,” he added.

The Committee has recommended that the Kisumu Governor Prof. Peter Anyang Nyong’o dismiss with immediate effect the current finance CEC once the County Assembly adopts the report.

The County Assembly of Kisumu has so far received a court order restraining it from carrying out the impeachment of the Kisumu County CEC in charge of Finance after Mr. Nerry Achar moved to court to block his impeachment by the Assembly.

The County Assembly was to have a special sitting today Wednesday August 7, 2019 through a Kenya Gazet notice but such like a notice had not been obtained hence forcing the MCAs together with their Speaker George Onyango Oloo to hold a Speaker’s Kamkunji within the Assembly for about 30 minutes where they unanimously agreed with the four resolutions the committee has come up with on the CEC Finance in Kisumu County.

Efforts to get Kisumu County CEC Finance Nerry Achar did not bear fruit as he did not pick the phone call when called.
