Police told to arrest the Killers of Kisumu Nurses Union official.

The Kenya National Union of Nurses now want the Police through its Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai to move with speed and arrest the killers of an official of the Union at Kisumu Branch.

Through its Secretary General Seth Panyako, the Union want the police to ensure that killers of Ferdinand Ongeri Ondieki are arrested and brought to book.

Addressing the congregation at Saint Joseph Mlimani Catholic Church today during the requiem mass for the slain nurse, the Kenya National Union of Nurses General Secretary Seth Panyako has further appealed to the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi to intervene and ensure the perpetrators of the heinous act are brought to book.

He said police by now should tell the public the findings of their investigations in regard to the heinous murder of the Nurses Union Official from Kisumu.

“Police should tell us who killed our fellow nurse Ferdinand Ongeri who was a very brilliant Union official in Kisumu because we believe they have done investigations and should arrest the killers and bring them to book,” he said.

Panyako said the security of nurses working across the country should be guaranteed, adding that the killing of the nurse is the second one in the country within a period of one year after another nurse was also brutally murdered in Machakos last year under unclear circumstances.

Panyako described the late Ongeri as a person who devoted most of his time to serve the interests of the Nurses while serving within the Kenya National Union of Nurses Kisumu Branch, adding that his demise is a bigger loss to the entire union in Kenya.

Those who spoke during the requiem mass eulogized the late Ongeri as a dedicated unionist and represented their interests well during his time as their union leader in Kisumu County.

Kenya National Union of Nurses Kisumu Branch Secretary Maurice Opetu said what has happened to their colleague is very much unfortunate, adding that they have lost a dedicated unionist.
