Police told to arrest
the Killers of Kisumu Nurses Union official.
The Kenya National Union of Nurses now want the Police
through its Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai to move with speed and
arrest the killers of an official of the Union at Kisumu Branch.
Through its Secretary General Seth Panyako, the Union want
the police to ensure that killers of Ferdinand Ongeri Ondieki are arrested and
brought to book.
Addressing the congregation at Saint Joseph Mlimani Catholic
Church today during the requiem mass for the slain nurse, the Kenya National
Union of Nurses General Secretary Seth Panyako has further appealed to the
Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi to intervene and ensure the
perpetrators of the heinous act are brought to book.
He said police by now should tell the public the findings of
their investigations in regard to the heinous murder of the Nurses Union
Official from Kisumu.
“Police should tell us who killed our fellow nurse Ferdinand
Ongeri who was a very brilliant Union official in Kisumu because we believe
they have done investigations and should arrest the killers and bring them to
book,” he said.
Panyako said the security of nurses working across the
country should be guaranteed, adding that the killing of the nurse is the
second one in the country within a period of one year after another nurse was
also brutally murdered in Machakos last year under unclear circumstances.
Panyako described the late Ongeri as a person who devoted
most of his time to serve the interests of the Nurses while serving within the
Kenya National Union of Nurses Kisumu Branch, adding that his demise is a
bigger loss to the entire union in Kenya.
Those who spoke during the requiem mass eulogized the late
Ongeri as a dedicated unionist and represented their interests well during his
time as their union leader in Kisumu County.

Maurice Opetu said what has happened to their colleague is very much
unfortunate, adding that they have lost a dedicated unionist.
The Kenya National Union Nurses Kisumu Branch Vice Chairman
Ferdinand Ongeri went missing a fortnight ago and his mutilated body was
discovered in Kimonde forest in Nandi County after three days on Saturday after
he went missing.The motive of the killing still remains unknown.
Police moved the Body to Kapsabet Sub-County Hospital after
which it was transferred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral
Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
He will be buried tomorrow August 9, 2019at his home in
Nyamira County.
