Leaders call for more arrests of suspects in the Nyando six murder
Hundreds of Kisumu County Residents
have today thronged Boya Primary school in Nyando Constituency to pay their
last respect to the Six Bouncers from the area who were brutally killed last
week in Busia as leaders call for more arrests of the suspects in the murder.
The residents walked from the Ahero
Sub County Hospital Mortuary more than two kilometers where the six bodies were
removed to Boya Primary school where a joint requiem mass was conducted by various
denominations.
Traditions songs in praise of the
six fallen youths were sang as a number of mourners wail uncontrollably.
Members of the public braved the
muddy ground within the venue that followed heavy downpour last night so
as to give the slain six youth their last Respect.
A somber mood engulfed the area as
mourners trooped in the said primary school wanting to have a glimpse of the
remains of the six victims.
There was hectic time in controlling
the huge crowd which kept on surging towards the place where the six coffins
were paraded.
The first person to fire the salvo
is the Kisumu County Bouncers Association Coordinator Edgar Odoyo who has
challenged the Government to make more arrests as far as the murder of six
Bouncers from Nyando who were brutally killed in Busia last week on Friday when
they went offer private security in a funeral is concerned.
Odoyo says so far the four suspects
who have been arrested are not enough hence there is need to make more arrests
of the suspects on the brutal killing that has shocked Kisumu County and the
country as a whole.
Odoyo says it is now making good
progress since the Association came out and voiced their concerns and what they
need the government to do by arresting more suspects after arresting four early this week.
“We want to state it here
categorically that the arrests of the four people made so far is not enough and
we want more arrests to be made because you cant tell us that only four people
managed to kill the six Bouncers,” Odoyo says.
Nyando Member of Parliament Jared
Odoyo Okello also voiced the same sentiments by urging the police to make more
arrests.
Members of Parliament Bernard Okoth Imran
{Kibra}, Mathews Onyango K’oyoo{Muhoroni} and Joshua Aduma Owuor of Nyakach
have also echoed the same sentiments wanting thorough investigations into the
matter and more arrests should be made.
Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang Nyong’o
says the county Government will see a way of assisting the bereaved family
members especially the widows.
Former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma
says the National Government through the Ministry of Interior and National
Government Coordination has a responsibility to tell Kenyans who has killed the
six bouncers and the reason as to why.
Kisumu Women Representative Rosa
Buyu says it is too painful to loose such six energetic young men with a very
promising feature.
She adds that all the perpetrators
of such heinous act must be brought to book at all cost.
During the requiem mass for the six
youths, there was tension simmering among various politicians who came to
condole with the families but turned the occasion to a political battle field
where each wanted to outdo one another.
The six will be buried tomorrow where three will be buried in Nyando and one each in Nyakach,Muhoroni and Kisumu East constituencies.
The Six Bouncers who were killed include William Omondi{Sisqo} Elvis Odoyo{Chief}, David Okeyo, Patrick Kwach, Evans Onyango{Toto} and Richard Odero{Nick}.
